What I love about me this is my passion for teaching. Ever since I could remember all I have wanted to be a teacher. Now that dream is becoming a reality. When school starts this August I am will begin my last year of college. In May, I will graduate with my Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education with a concentration in Special Education. I will have an Autism degree. I can't wait to get into the classroom and start changing the lives of my students.

In the meantime, I will be starting my teaching at home. I have decided to start preparing my son for school. I have searched and found Nevada's Pre-K Standards and over then next few weeks I will be creating a home-based curriculum using the standards. Come August, for a few hours each during the week, we will focus on the skills needed to succeed in school. I will be using the workbooks and other lessons that I will be complying over the next few weeks.

Also in the next few weeks I will be getting my Clark County School District Substitute License. With this license I will be able to start subbing for teachers to gain some more classroom experience before my student teaching experience begins.

Comments

  1. That's great! I was a sub before I started teaching and it really did help me once I was a teacher. I found the classrooms and teachers that I really liked and subed there a lot. The school I ended up working at is where I subed all the time.
I'm "homeschooling" my daughter too, even though she's going to pre-school in the Fall. I believe that a child's first teacher is his/her parent and that it's really my job to teach her. We work about 30 minutes a day together because it's all I have the patience for. Good luck on your last year of school!

  3. Teaching is my passion too. It's so good that you're also getting the Special Ed. certifications. Those kids really need and deserve the best teachers (plus it's job security for you forever). :)
